Christian Wolf, Associate Professor of Economics at MIT, has been named winner of the 2026 Janet Yellen Award for Monetary Research. The award, given annually by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, honors early-career researchers whose work is shaping the future of monetary research and its applications in central banking.

Wolf, who joined the MIT faculty in 2021, works in macroeconomics, monetary economics, and time series econometrics. He is honored for his policy-relevant insights and foundational contributions to estimating the effects of monetary policy on the economy. These contributions have been deeply influential, "both across the economics profession and within central banking," as noted in the selection committee's citation.

Wolf is the second recipient of the annual Yellen Award, established by the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 2025. He received the award and delivered a keynote address to attendees of the San Francisco Fed's third annual conference on macro-finance research, held on October 9, 2026.
